Ró-di-na - Motherland, she consumes, she regurgitates.
The location of the performance is irrelevant, Motherland is anywhere and everywhere, she is beneath you in the soil and above you in the sky.
Dressed in a deconstructed embodiment of the Slavic motherland—a fragmented interpretation of traditional "womanly" attire—I became a vessel. The performance began with an act of raw confrontation: consuming soil, a symbol of land, history and atrocities that come with it. Each deliberate bite blurred the boundary between humanity and homeland, forcing the audience to witness the intimacy and violence inherent in our culture with connection to the land. With stained hands, I smeared the soil onto a handmade reliquary, its surface becoming a canvas for grief, resistance, and reclamation. The reliquary, a symbol of collective memory and loss, bore the marks of this primal interaction. The performance concluded in silence, with the reliquary standing on the land.
